What are the differences between the various types of HDPE ground protection mats?
Broadly speaking, you will find three types of road plates on our site:
- HMPE ground protection mats
- Ground protection mats WITH HD in the product name
- Ground protection mats without HD, with DS or OS in the product name
Starting with the first: HMPE ground protection mats
HMPE is an exceptionally hard and wear-resistant type of plastic. These mats are therefore also the strongest traffic plates in our range. They have two (potential) drawbacks: they are all smooth (on both sides) and the price of these plastic traffic plates is relatively high.
Ground protection mats WITH HD in the product name
The plates with HD in the product name have the following properties:
They are exceptionally dimensionally stable. We are talking here about a dimensional tolerance of +1/-1mm. This is comparable to the HMPE mats.
The handles on the HD plates are finished just a little more neatly than those on the non-HD plates.
The HD road plates are more flexible than the HMPE road plates, but virtually unbreakable. We therefore supply these plates with a breakage guarantee as standard.
Ground protection mats without HD, with DS or OS in the product name
The mats without HD in the product name have the following properties:
In terms of price, these ground protection mats are the most attractive option.
These road mats sometimes vary considerably in size. We are talking here about a dimensional tolerance of +5/-5mm.
The handles on these plates are less neatly finished than those on the HD plates.
OS or DS in the name of these road plates indicates the anti-slip texture. OS stands for ONE-SIDED texture. DS stands for DOUBLE-SIDED texture.
